Near my bathroom, I got a drawer full of magazine and comic book. Not long ago I was looking for a good one to read while doing some extended duty. I found one of my Nintendo Power, number 34, the one with Link to the past on the cover. I start reading the Mario comic in it. I was surprised to see that the Yoshi village look more like Super Mario RPG one than the Yoshi hut in Super Mario world.
the comic
Super Mario world
Super Mario RPG
I know nothing about that and this may be a little far-fetched but Nintendo power was released march 1992 and Super Mario RPG a good 4 years later in may 1996. Could Squaresoft Yoshi village be inspire from the comic rather than Yoshi house in the mario world ? Just look at the mailbox in the middle of the comic, weird.
haha you're right!
ReplyDeleteCould be on to something here. Then again, the Yoshi hut in Super Mario World just might only be a fraction of what they had in mind for a Yoshi village. You know? Maybe they felt it a bit too much to put into the game and didn't expand on it further than just that one hut.
ReplyDeleteNever the less, I'm a big fan of Super Mario RPG. Can you make more links in the magazine? I'd like to see more investigation and follow-ups.
I think you're onto something here
ReplyDeleteGot to be honest, sounds pretty plausible.
ReplyDeleteI love both of these games, but this does sound like a good theory.
ReplyDeleteEpicness!

ReplyDeleteooooooooh great games in my opinion
ReplyDeleteI loved opening my childhood magazines and seeing large, detailed pieces of art like that. It was eye-crack for my childhood.
ReplyDelete:O that comic is so pretty, I had never seen it before! interesting analysis by the way.
ReplyDeleteWow man, there is definitely some resemblance there!
ReplyDeleteThat comic is so awesome!
ReplyDeleteSuper Mario RPG was legit!
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking more of the comic.
ReplyDeleteSuper Mario World was EPIC!
ReplyDeleteWith the comics, and the TV shows...Nintendo games became something more...usually disappointing. Before stories were told in them kids would imagine for themselves what was going on.
ReplyDeletelol is the same mailbox "yoshi"!
ReplyDeleteI loved Nintendo Power, I should resubscibe.
ReplyDeleteSuper Mario Bros! :) They rock..
ReplyDeletehah nintendo power... those were the days... getting that was the excitement equivalent of getting a first kiss, but every month

ReplyDeleteHmm, makes me wanna go back and play both.
ReplyDeleteNot too sure, but it seems like it could be. I never really got into most of mario games, just the mainstream ones like SMB, 64, MarioKart, etc.
